Developed by chip-set manufacturer Nextchip, AHD is an analog HD solution that provides backward compatibility with traditional analog CCTV equipment, and allows for high-definition transmission over existing coaxial cables. This means that the AHD system can be connected to a digital video recorder, or DVR, which will digitize and convert the analog signals into an uncompressed HD signal for storage on a hard drive.
The AHD camera will capture a wide-angle of the surrounding area and then transmit that video in an uncompressed format over the existing coaxial cable to the DVR, all with no loss of quality or signal latency. Wide Dynamic Range

Firstly, consider your budget and the distance you need to cover. Depending on these factors, you may find that choosing a smaller camera with a fixed lens is the best choice. Infrared Night Vision
The human eye only perceives wavelengths that fall within the visible light range of the electromagnetic spectrum, which is why we have trouble seeing things in pitch-black conditions. These cameras can illuminate an area that would otherwise be completely black with their IR LEDs and can work up to 60 meters in darkness depending on the model.

Other options that allow for a camera to operate in total darkness include removing the IR cut filter, which changes the image to black and white, or choosing a 2.8-12mm varifocal lens to dial-in a specific view of the area.
AHD camera technology is one of the most advanced on the market for HD-over-coaxial cable, as it allows for a much higher resolution video signal to be transmitted over long distances than analog CCTV, HD-SDI or Network IP cameras without loss in quality. Remote Access
AHD cameras connect to DVRs (Digital Video Recorders) which convert analog signal to digital data for recording & storage. The DVR also has a processor which can perform many other functions including remote access.
A DVR can be accessed remotely over the Internet or through your home network using special software and a computer or smartphone. You can view live footage and remotely control your camera through this program from anywhere in the world where you have an Internet connection.
Some of our AHD cameras come with built-in microphones and support Audio-Over-Coax (AOC). AOC allows audio to be transferred along with the video signal over the coax cable avoiding having to run an extra wire pair for audio.
In order to enable remote access, your system must be connected to the internet via a router or modem and have a public IP address assigned. You will then need to set up port forwarding or a Virtual Private Network (VPN) on your router in order for you to access the camera over the internet.
