The A9s LCD Projector – Everything You Need to Know

Brightness

Compared to the Sony A9G OLED, the A9S has a lower input lag, better accuracy out of the box, and a less aggressive Automatic Brightness Limiter for a more consistent peak brightness. It also has better contrast and viewing angles. However, it has less dynamic range and a slightly higher black frame insert flicker at 120Hz for 120fps content.
Colors
The LCD projector’s display technology uses a combination of open and closed pixels to create colors. This allows for a wide range of color and shade, which is important for an image to appear realistic. It also means that LCD projectors can produce incredibly deep and crystal-clear blacks. However, it is important to note that the accuracy of these projectors varies from model to model. Resolution

Be sure to compare projectors’ native and ANSI contrast ratios to see which has the best range for your needs. Some manufacturers quote a native contrast ratio that is higher than any human can perceive, while others reference a higher dynamic contrast ratio (ANSI). Dynamic contrast refers to a projector’s ability to show both a high white and dark black on the screen at the same time.
The best way to test a projector’s contrast is to watch a wide variety of content with it, and make sure the room is dark enough for a truly immersive experience. Be wary of inflated “native” and “ANSI” contrast numbers pushed by marketing.
Motion
Whether you are watching a movie or playing video games on your PC, the a9s offers smooth and clear motion thanks to its DLP technology. DLP stands for digital light projection, a type of display that uses a laser to shut off individual micromirrors to create pixels on an LCD screen. This technology is faster than liquid crystal and it gives the a9s a much smoother motion.
You can control the a9s’s motion settings by adjusting the Motionflow and Cinemotion options. The a9s also has Black Frame Insertion to remove judder from external 60p/60i sources like cable boxes, and it supports HDMI Enhanced Format to ensure that you’ll have low input lag when using it with your PC.
For still shooting, the a9s has 5-axis SteadyShot that corrects for pitch / yaw / roll and X for left-right motion to deliver sharp photos with accurate color reproduction. It also has a deep buffer and fast response time, allowing you to shoot a lot of frames before you have to empty the camera’s memory. This is a major improvement over the previous model, which was limited to about 480 still frames per charge with a battery grip.
